I've been doing research and investigation of building my own house. I don't mean getting financing and building the conventional way. I'm talking about buying land for cash, building supplies that are either on sale or salvadge and enlisting the help of my grown sons. After all, they will inherit it after I die so why wouldn't they?

Seems reasonable, doesn't it? When you stop to think about them each having their own busy lives and families, it won't be that easy. Hopefully they can donate some time but I'm not going to ask them to build it completely.

I'm a travel nurse. I keep telling myself I can do this! After all, I paid off a student loan in three months that would have taken me years as a staff nurse. I can do this, right?

This blog will be the result of my research, a record of the process and thoughts along the way. Others have done it, why not me?
